An Amazon.com reviewer wrote: "I wasn't expecting much out of this film other than some softcore nun sex scenes, but as it turned out the writer/director really took the theological debate about earthly vs heavenly satisfaction very seriously. Ultimately, the film doesn't really take sides, but presents repression and lust with both their torments and rewards." But Linda Williams of the British Film Institute's Sight & Sound wrote: "If you want bonking and bondage with your beer and biriani, then Sacred Flesh may be the film for you." We'll be damned.
